Believe in Yourself!
Karen M. Letizia

Believing that a difficult goal can be achieved lays the ground work for making it a reality.  A “can do” attitude heads us in the direction to accomplishment.

Many times in our pre-weight loss days, we felt defeated at the start of a new weight loss plan.  We approached yet another “try” with trepidation and fear that we would soon be failing the latest diet attempt only to return to our high weight…or worse, even heavier than when we started.

The difference today, however, is that we already have proven we can change.  Through surgery we changed our lives.  We achieved massive weight loss.  We took control and reclaimed good health.  We vastly improved the quality of our lives.  We gained many rewards.  Yes, we are capable of change.

Now, post weight loss, we face the daunting task of keeping off the weight we lost…for life.  As I see it, weight loss maintenance is the most challenging and important part of the equation.  It is a daily focus and a top priority.  It must be.

Making the firm decision to have a compliant day and believing you will be successful is as important as the actual program you are choosing to follow.  At the start of each day, talk to yourself.  Tell yourself you CAN keep off the weight...you can make good choices...you have changed and no longer need to use food for anything other than nutrition.  Visualize a successful day filled with good choices, plenty of water, vitamins and exercise.  Take the time to focus on yourself…your needs…your daily must do’s!

When you make this the way you start your day, it becomes routine...it becomes very easy to do.  Even spending five minutes self-talking during your morning shower will help you accomplish compliance and keep off for life the weight you worked so hard to lose.

Believe it! I do!
